Cisco announced the end of the ROUTE (642-902), SWITCH (642-8833) and TSHOOT (642-8822) exams. These exams introduced new exams to validate individuals' ability to plan, implement, and troubleshoot LANS or WAN, and to work with security professionals from different domains such as voice, security, and wireless. These are the new exams:1. 642-902 ROUTE, which is Implementing Cisco IP Route (ROUTE v1.0), has been replaced with 300-101 ROUTE, which is Implementing Cisco IP routing (route v2.0). 642-813 SWITCH, which is Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks. (SWITCH version 1.0), has been replaced by 300-115 SWITCH, which is Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks. (SWITCH version 2.0). 642-832 TSHOOT is Troubleshooting Cisco IP Networks (TSHOOT v1.0). It has been replaced by 300-135 TSHOOT, which is Troubleshooting Cisco IP Networks. These changes were made because of changes in the job requirements of different companies, which have increased over time. The last date for CCNP R&S's old exams, 642-902 ROUTE and 642-813 SWITCH are 29 January 2015. After that date, all exams will be unavailable or invalid.
ROUTE (300-101): This exam is about Implementing Cisco IP Routing (ROUTE 2.0): This exam validates the candidate's knowledge and skills in advanced IP addressing and routing. It allows them to implement highly secure and scalable Cisco routers that are connected to Local Area Networks (LAN), Wireless Area Networks (WLAN), and IPV6. This exam covers the configuration and use of highly secure routing solutions for support branch offices as well as mobile workers.
